Maker’s Mark “D” or “O” Carved in Bottom. 15″ Tall x 4″ Diameter. Very Good Condition: There is a glued repair on the male statue- the bouquet he’s holding has been reattached. Otherwise there are other minor signs of cosmetic wear as expected with age and previous display including faint surface marks, light dustiness, and felt remainders and gentle shelf wear to bottom; no other chips, or cracks besides the repair. Superb quality, gilt decorated, bisque figurines which are unmarked other than the impressed number “26” and the hand written number “22” in gold. There’s also an old paper sticker which has “Hurff” written on it in pencil. These beautiful blond children, luxuriously dressed in white and gold, are carrying satchels as if heading to school. The hand painting is very fine and the figures are delightfully formed, posed with grace and charm. The girl leans back as if her satchel is heavy, while the boy has an air of nonchalance. The clothing details are remarkable, from the expert drapery to the little moriage nubs on their jackets. The girl’s satchel has letters inscribed on it and I think they are Mus… Both stand elevated on bases of mossy ground and a cut tree trunk. The boy is just slightly taller than the girl, thanks to the pom pom on his cap. There are some small damages: The base of the girl statue is chipped at its bottom edge and the boy has lost his thumb. Also his cheek has been scratched and there’s a loss of paint there. Gothic, Mediterranean or Spanish Revival Pr Torchieres, Vintage Reproduction. These are adjustable in height and extended at 6′ in pics but may extend a little bit taller. When the rod is retracted the minimum height is 5′. The pieces are sturdy and well weighted distributed for stability. Parts of these are made from wrought iron and other parts, the black paint has scraped off in a few areas to reveal brass underneath. (gold color non-magnetic metal) and other parts are still painted at flat black but are magnetic and most likely iron. The delicate double foliate floral candleholders with beautiful fine, life-like detail may be made of a tin and iron mixture. Tin allowing greater malleability so that the folds of the leaves and petals could be created. Holds 5 candles each. Antique Staffordshire Cow with Calf Milkmaid Spill Vases. These great pieces feature a cow and calf by a stream with milkmaid and milkman. Mid to late 19th century.
