The Fisherman is carrying a Fishing Net and Bag and the Peasant carrying Sheaves of Wheat in her Apron and hand. Royal Dux was established in 1853, and in 1860 became E. Its main products were faience and majolica, for which it was awarded a Silver Medal at the 1878 Paris Exhibition. Both Signed on bottom with the Pink Triangle Mark: Royal Dux Bohemia E. Fisherman #1571 #9 or #59 Marked in Underglaze. Peasant #1572 Impressed #59 Marked in Underglaze. Both have Incredible Presentation. No Chips or Repairs with minimal age commensurate display wear. Duxer Porzellanmanufaktur, or Dux Porcelain Manufactory, was started in 1860 by Eduard Eichler in what was then Duchov, Bohemia. The high quality pottery and porcelain figures produced there are now generally referred to by the abbreviated name, Royal Dux. The Famous Pink Triangle: Royal Dux introduced one of the most distinctive marks ever placed on porcelain, a raised triangle of pink clay and serves as its Certificate of Authentication. All factory applied pink triangles whether from the 19th, 20th or 21st century are made from a separate piece of pink clay. The pink clay is applied to the base of Royal Dux white clay bodies. E Impressed Triangle, ca. 1860-WW I: Each of the four periods of production can be roughly identified by changes in marks. In the first period, 1860 to WW I, the letter E is impressed in the center of the pink triangle. E represents Eichler, the founder’s surname. The letter in the center of triangles changes over the years. It’s important to keep in mind that E is the earliest. At the turn of the century the company expanded to include a head office in Berlin, and began producing a large range of porcelain figurines. It started to export its porcelain and faience figurines across Europe and the United States, winning awards such as the Grand Prix prize at the world exhibition in St Louis in 1904 and the silver medal at the exhibition in Milano in 1906.
