SUPERB PAIR of LARGE ART DECO GERMAN SHEPHERD SPELTER, MARBLE & ONYX SCULPTURE. CARVIN on 1 base (Louis Albert CARVIN). Carvin, Louis Albert (1875 – 1951), was born in Paris, France and was principally an animalier sculptor, known especially for a natural depiction depicted in his works. And was a member of the Société des Artistes Français, (an association of French painters and sculptors established in 1881). He exhibited his work at the Paris Salon from 1894 1933 and awarded the Medal of Honor in 1894. Carvin sculpted the work “The Muse of Aviation”, a bronze trophy presented to Wilbur and Orville Wright on. By the Aéro-Club de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France. Another example of his Carvins work titled, Barzoi created in 1934, can be seen in Clamart (Paris), at the square de la Maison Blanche. H = 10 4/5 ” and 9 2/5 ” (27,5 cm and 24 cm).
