For sale is a Rare pair of Antique 1700s 18th century large size decorative Pewter Table Spoon. It features a shield and laurel pattern on the backside of the stem and a two faced design on the front. The stem boldly fanned out then turns upward in the Hanoverian flatware style. The “Hanoverian” is the most important British flatware pattern in the 18th century. In this pattern the stem widens gradually toward the curved terminal and then turns upward. This form was adopted because the spoon was lad on the table in the French manner (the bottom of the bowl downward). This pattern was manufactured in the British Isles from c. 1710 until the 1770s. Many of these British spoons were exported to America to serve the ever growing population of the new colonies. This particular spoon is a larger example measuring 8″ in length and a rather elongated bowl that measures 3″ by 1.5. No damage of any kind is detected.
